Communication Strategy
Developing coherent, evidence-based communication strategies that connect an organisation's identity with its audiences. From positioning and messaging to channel selection and planning.
Strategic communication advice for organisations that want to communicate with purpose — with their own staff, with stakeholders, and with the world.
Alongside workshops and coaching, I offer strategic communication advice to organisations. This work draws on more than 25 years of experience across science, media, and education.
I work best with organisations in science, education, healthcare, or the public sector — places where the work has societal value.
What I offer
Developing coherent, evidence-based communication strategies that connect an organisation's identity with its audiences. From positioning and messaging to channel selection and planning.
Designing listening processes, organisational compasses, and internal communication frameworks that help organisations understand and connect with their own staff. Proven experience with large-scale listening sessions and values trajectories.
Building and protecting organisational reputation through strategic positioning, thought leadership programmes, and consistent, credible communication. Including social media strategy and ambassador toolkits.
Mapping and engaging key stakeholders — from funders and policymakers to community partners and media. Developing tailored engagement strategies and advising on one-on-one relationship management.
Supporting organisations through transitions — restructuring, new strategies, cultural shifts — with research-based change narratives, communication plans, and people-centred approaches that build understanding and reduce resistance.
Temporary leadership of communication teams — to help a team develop, to better position the communications function within an organisation, or to bridge a transition period.
How I work
Good communication advice starts with listening — to the organisation, to its people, and to the context in which it operates. I work best in a sparring-partner role: thinking alongside leadership, asking critical questions, and translating strategic insight into concrete, usable communication.
I am not motivated by volume or KPIs. I am motivated by the quality and relevance of the work and by the conviction that organisations with a genuine mission deserve communication that is worthy of it.
